Global Nomads Group

It is very usual for NGO's to help each other out. The house we stay in is rather large, and we tend to always have a few beds spare. Currently, Global Nomads Group, an American NGO have 3 representatives staying with us. They have a strong relationship with Architecture for Humanity (AFH) and together with Students Rebuild help to fund and implement education programs for the schools we build.

Global Nomads Group basically creates education programs through visual media and technology so that the high school kids in the US can interact with the Haitian high school kids. Tools such as live video-conferencing and multi-media videos enables direct contact and provide continual relationships.

So if you just watched the video above, this was the recent video footage they took of Architecture for Humanity. The white house is our office in PĂ©tionville and if you look closely you can see me in the background working away on my laptop!

Humour aside, Schendy is the design fellow based here. He is Haitian but studied in the US. He has been a great source of help to us here as he speaks great English (American) and speaks the native tongue of Creole.

He describes one of many schools, Architecture for Humanity are designing and building. They all follow the same principles and the impetus is always the same, however the scale of the schools do vary. Mainly schools for 300 pupils and no more than 1,100 pupils.
